Hi.
I need to get to rear brakes as got red hot the other day. Already done the 'jack maxing out before tyre off ground.' Trolley jack ready now (hoping air bag doesn't pop off) but would appreciate some help with axle stand locations.
Everything i have seen and read, including RAVE, says under where the wishbone joins the sub frame.
When using sill for jack, and high enough for stands, the wishbone is on such an angle from the frame that the stand won't sit under it safely. Do I therefor place the stand next to the joint so under sub frame?
Hope that makes sense?

Sorry it is a 2004 3L TD6

I just use trolley jack, as yes same issue with axle stands so can’t be bothered.

Jack and wheel under sill, working on brakes you don’t need to get under so do you need axle stands;).
The supplied jack is scary as **** I hate it and only used it once .
If you really want to use a stand I am sure once up you could find another suitable spot, tow bar?

Thanks. Only problem now is, trolley Jack not high enough. Never seen a car this far away from wheel beforeHow much timber can I get away with under jack?

This is my solution but I now stack 5 blocks on top of each other instead of the axle stand as the axle stand dented the rail under the body. I start jacking from off road height.

This sits on top of the trolley jack

That jack really isn’t up to the job as has been pointed out.
My 3t only needs a block on the sill jacking point and have no issue getting it up.
At least you got there:).

Never had any issue with bags, we change winter/summer so probably more changes of wheels than most:).

I guess you are on for new arches after the brake;).
