Hi looking for some advice please........

I am currently "doing up" my 300 Tdi and I decided to fit a wading kit. Front axle went on OK, transfer box is a bitch to get at - time will tell with the gearbox.

Anyway my problem was with the rear axle. As I removed the bolt and banjo that make up the breather from the axle there was a "pop" of air as the pressure equalised - not to good I think.

On investigation the banjo and bolt were full of crap that looked like oil with sand in, and then mixed with a bit of water. Not to good as you can imagine. Now worried as what to do - what can I do to clean out the axle etc etc.

Anyone with any knowledge please help

Billy

check the oil and see what it is like. Clean the Banjo out so air can pass thru it easily and then report back. Any of the oil seals leaking at the wheel ends?

that was a blocked breather cured by fitting the new ones.Drop th diff oil and replace with some fresh ep90 should be fine.

Thanks for the quick replies.

The oil seals at the wheel ends are fine, best I drop the oil and see what state it is in.

If it has crap in it whats the best way of flushing the diff/axle out??
