You can get a better controller from an aussir bloke called Ray. Its called Afterburner and allows Bluetooth & wifi control with a two time 7 day
timer. You can aslo add a GSM relay, so ring for heat.

The stat (on the china ones anyway) is pretty good even when hidden away. I keep stat in the cubby while the heater is under the rear seats. Keeps the temp within around 5c (according to an external thermometer).

Though if youre planning to run it over night it wouldnt be hard to have two controllers, one in the cab, one in the tent. Just switch between the one you want. Wiring is pretty basic and they are only about £7 just make sure you have two of the same and check the settings are the same as well.

As for the china heaters they are good for the money but do need a bit of tlc.

What kind of ducting do you plan to use? Ive been on the lookout for something durable, packable and would take the heat.
Silicone duct with sprung coil, rated to 70 degrees it said, for the fixed runs.
Have a D3 eberspacher, from a refitted NHS ambulance, bench tested and working fine, not tested the longer hose run yet.
