Thanks to all you guys I've installed my split charge system and ironed out all the little niggles, battery drain, isolator switches etc.

I was wondering how I should earth the electrical items running off the aux battery? They all get their outputs from an aux fuse box but at the moment everything has its own earth wire that runs into the battery box making it look like spaghetti junction in there. Is it advisable to have a 'earth junction box' somewhere in the cab that all the earth run too? Is there any probs or unusual considerations required with that set up?

I'm assuming you can't just earth everything to the chassi as that's where the starter battery takes its earths from...

You can just earth everything on the chassis.

The batteries work due to the potential difference within the battery, so they won't "crosstalk" so to speak.

Oh really? That's a revolution.

Can I still set up an earth junction box just to keep everything neat?

There is a designated earth point for all you dash stuff on the bulk head at the back of the engine bay. Just pop a wire from your earth collection point to it, through one of the rubber grommets in the bulkhead. Make sure though that the wire is rated at higher than all the currents of all the accessories added together.

Then, I'd just run a big black earth cable from the second battery through the battery tray and to the same point on the chassis as the first battery.

Thanks for the mate. That will help tidy things up.
