HI:
I have had other automatic gearbox but never in LR, my doubt:
with the lever in D or R I have to firmly press the brake or the car starts the march. Is it normal that there is no "dead" space and push so much? Will it damage torque converter or something?
I know there are jatco specialists here. Any point of view is welcome.
Thanks

As far as I know the majority of AUTO boxes will begin moving the vehicle on a flat/level surface if put into Drive Or Reverse.
This is also how come Auto's can hold their position on a slight upward slope without having to use the brakes.
Certainly this is true of my P38 Range Rover.

It's normal for automatic boxes to allow the vehicle to "creep" , so you simply hold it on the brakes.
It won't damage anything, other than the brake light bulbs.

Ok understood. I see it is normal.
Thanks

If theres no creep on an auto on a level surface its slipping and worn. Never known a car that doesn't need yer foot on the brake to keep it stationary when in D or R, on level ground.

Hi Hippo:
They do need a brake to avoid starting but the difference is that they do not push perhaps because the DSG - Stronic system is double clutch and works differently. I don't know how other systems work.
I also had multitronic shifting and it doesn't push almost anything. It's that mine pushes a lot and I didn't know if it needs any regulation, although it seems to be normal in this car.
Cheers.

On flat ground a FL1 will only move forwards on tick over. You should be able to walk beside it at a comfortable speed. If it's more than this then film the speed the front wheel turns and we'll compare to our FL1's.
