Automatic conversion?

I was wondering if anyone new if it is possible to convert my freelander 1.8 manual petrol to a diesel automatic?

Sorry not to have a very constructive answer here, but i'd just accept the fact that you bought the wrong model, sell it, and buy a TD4 Auto!
Though they are generally more expensive, having driven all models, thats clearly the one to own....
Even if conversion was easy (and i am led to believe that it is not) the cost and hasstle will probably wind up being the same, if not worse!!!

sadley I think your right, why oh why did I ever buy this car, I never dreamed that owning a landrover would be such a nightmare, it is by far the worst car I have ever owned

I'll pretend i didn't hear that, being a firefighter!!!
Whatever problems you've had, the diesel auto appears to me to be a dream.
Though i have been unfortunate enough to have some electrical problems as you will see if you find my other post (battery drain).
Hope you eventually achieve satisfaction!!! GUS...
