autobox question

Very quick question here, D2 auto-box..


is there a detente between D and 3rd gears? or should there be.

i have had a look at the little toothed strip that prevents the gear stick from being moved without pressing the button, but it appears there is nothing between 3 and D on the lever.

there are, obviously, teeth between all the other gears but i can without depressing the button move from 3 to D and visa versa..

should this be possible?

Yes.
Moving from Drive to position 3 is the only time that you can select a position and you don't have to press the button.
Position 3 is limited to 1st 2nd and 3rd gears, also handy to select position 3 on long inclined to stop the gearbox changing back and forth between gears.
