Hi, I have a 95 4.6 HSE that will not operate in any gear. The torque converter is ok, the filter mesh has been removed and LR are unable to talk to the ECU. From what people with more knowledge than I are saying, is that the box thinks its still in park and is dropping the presure.

I also have a 2000 4.6 Vogue.

Now the question I need answering is. Can I nterchange the Gearbox ECU and see if I can move the fault from one vehicle to another?

No is the simple answer.

The reason for this is because on 99 and onwards petrol vehicles they used CAN bus for the auto transmission to communicate with the rest of the vehicle. Your later P38 will have a 75-pin connection to the ECU while the earlier one will have a 55-pin connector. :(

Thanks. If I can locate a 95 ECU would I be able to just slot in, or would I need to get it remaped for my vehicle?

Im not sure on that one im afraid, hopefully someone else will know or you could just try it. The parts catalogue shows different ECU's for different engines so make sure its from another 4.6 and not a 4.0.
