Auto over revs

Hi,I have 2001 freelander td4 auto diesel and when I get to 30 mph it does not find the gear straight away,the revs seem to go from around 3000 to 4500 then find the gear,can anyone give any help please.

when was the last time you changed the fluid??? Does this happen all the time or just for the 1st few miles???

Hi cuza68 had it 10 months n haven't changed any fluid.Wife uses for commuting to work over 5 miles in congested traffic and mentions it happens a bit.But on trip out on a30mile journey it happened every time I hit 30mph.Back to commuting today and it didn't happen very often,hope this is some help thanks.

Hi cuza68 it can happen all the while on run,but intermittently on short runs.

Might be worth doing a fluid change, at least then you will have a point to work from. Do you notice any other probs with it holding any other gear too long, does it change through the box smoothly?

Hi cuza,the problem in the end was the clutch.£660 pounds worth.Just wanted to thank you for my call for help,cheers.
