Autos are for 1 legged gays, manuals all the way... god didnt give us 2 legs to drive an auto!! (yes Autos have a good off road rep but really its all about the manual, thats why its call a MANual, its for real men!)

I don't see the point in having a driving hobby, then buying an auto to take half the driving away from it.

Autos have their place for people who like to sit back and relax and not be part of the driving experience. For instance, reps who spend half their life behind the wheel. But for off roading - the whole point of it for me is to see what me and the car are capable of, so I'd go for a manual.

Auto. Not fat (just over 13 stone) not lazy (snowshoe or hike six days a week and I use both legs) but an auto wins hands down for off-roading and especially driving in snow. Plenty of engine breaking when it is placed in first or second gear in low range.

Autos do have a gearstick if you want to play with the gears just like a manual, but auto is def better off road as you cant burn the clutch out as ive seen done many times, aswell as many of the other reasons stated by others, but i guess if you dont like autos dont buy one lol

Missed out on a manual earlier but same chap has a better condition auto, so should I be tempted. Just never occured to me before but i would also drive on road. So in that case does the manual win?

Even on road? It is in much better condition, just not sure about the pros and cons on road. I have read the above as far as off road. It's a 200tdi. Does that make a diff for an auto?

Pro's and con's with both its just a matter of choice
And I like auto's

exactly this, we could argue about it for a long time but it comes down to personal preference, I am a manual man, all my vehicles are manual and I personally wouldnt want anything else, thats not to say autos are no good, just no good for me....

it will be more sluggish pulling up to 50mph but once there the same as a manual, but auto has its advantages with no gear changes in town or hand brakes starts on hills etc, plus pump tuning will help ,you can follow info on thisite to do it yourself

If you're a manual man, try an auto sometime.

I was changed.

I have, many times, my old shogun was an auto, I do like them persay but I personally prefer the control of a manual. Like I say its personal preference, for me its always a manual, for others its always an auto...
