auto in 200tdi

i have just fully rebuilt and fitted a 200 tdi into the 90. i used this not for power but reliability as it used used purely for offroading and going to be used for winching. i would like to go auto and have read a few posts saying they are crap on the tdi. any thoughts? if so would the box out of a 300tdi disco mate up? i can adjust mounts accordingly.

Daft Q - can yu winch an Auto - isnt there the same probs as with towing?

i have heard a lot of lads say there are better than manual because they are smoother. just put it in drive and winch in and give it rev wen it needs it.

the only problem with towing auto with transfer box not in neutral is that epicyclic gears and clutches are been driven and too higher speed with no oil feed ,t/box in neutral gear box not driven so no problem when winching not fast enough or far enough to give problem but withy auto in drive you can apply just enough torque to keep up with winch with out ovger much wheel spin
