auto gearbox temp

Hi all just a query about the temp in the auto box. Does any body know what the max temp should be. The warning light comes on so Ive ordered sensor but I am just curious. Nano doesnt show any faults. 2003 disco td5

approximately the same as the engine, depends a lot of ambient temp. and driving manner... from around 85*C(180F) to 105*C(220F), max 120*C in extreme conditions, afaik the swicth closes at around 125*C but your curiosity would be satisfied only if you fit a gauge ;)
 
I took the sump off my auto gearbox and thanks to Mr. Noisy, had an M12x1.5 nut welded into it so I could fit a sender unit.
I also reconditioned it while it was off the vehicle, hence it looking like new.

The gauge gets wired in tomorrow. :)

thanks chaps for the replies. I will wait till I fit the new sensor to see if it is cured.
