im sure i read somewhere you can change the output sprocket on the td5 auto box so it shifts earlyer and ups the gearing to get more speed at lower revs
am i dreaming or is it possible?
does anyone know where i read it? lol

not sure what you mean exactly theres nothing you can change in auto box, you can fit a lower stall torque converter do reduce slipping feeling ,or change transfer box ratio to 1.003,but latter isnt a straight forward change 1 gear job

it would increase gearing so revs for a given speed would be lower ,the 1003 was fitted to 3 speed auto and doesnt have provision for hi/low sensor though would physically fit ,what are you trying to loose, autos slipping feel before lock up ?

no iv got that sorted have fitted uprated torque converted
just want to see if its possible to lower the engine speed to get better economy and lower cruising revs

3 speed auto for early disco?
3 speed auto was only fitted to rrc and would have lower ratio hence the higher ratio in its transfer box,it would be possible to alter 1003 transfer box by fitting your front output housing and hi/lo lever etc but more of a job that youd think
