Hi all i know this is a common issue however thought i would see if anyone has the same problems and got to the bottom off it .
mine 2000 auto td5 seem to rev hard lots of noise and not much go , and holds before changing gears , and holds the gears too long before changing at all ?
less than 30k ago the box was removed new pump seals and gaskets etc so its not leaking any fluid ? so didnt think that it was gonna be a fluid issue with such little miles since the last time done ?
any help would be great as stressing about it and costing me a fortune in fuel

B4 you try anything worth checking the auto box oil level , 1st start it up put it in D and see if it pulls away without the throttle . If it does not , get some auto box oil ,start it up , hold the brake and move the lever up and down the box this helps pump oil all round the box. Then while it's still running remove the filler bolt , and put more oil in until it starts to dribble out . Then pop your bolt back in , this neededs to be done while the engine is running.that way you will know its not low oil . I had this prob after having new oil lines fitted to my box ,after a day or so it started reving harder , did as above and fixed it , just remember do it on level ground and chock the wheels if doing it on the ground .

Why chock it? why not put it into neutral in high and low range!

Might still be worth checking the oil , even if it's only a little bit low , it make such a difference to how the box works .and for just the cost of some oil , and one Allan key bolt to undo ,its one thing to rule out .

Always chock a vehicle that is on its wheels when your going to lay under its , yes neural , yes brake on, but never trust that to be enough . Doesn't hurt to be carful :)

Mine is exactly the same,

I drove one before i bought mine and it was the same as well, i thought it was just the way they were,

Is there a solution? i find myself jiggling about with the throttle to get it to change when i want it to

As for chocks, always use them, and if your jacking, ALWAYS put an axle stand in, i know of a guy who was crushed to death when it toppled of the jack.

cheers

All the DII auto TD5's have a tendency to be revvy unless you drive with a light foot. It feels a bit like a slipping clutch.

Assuming there are no other problems i.e. it's running as per standard, then the only cure is a modified Torque converter available from Ashcroft's.

sorted it guys it was me im so used to my audis dsg box , guess im a bit spoilt really had it checked out by a specialist and he said its all good .
