Disco 1 Atf change refilling

Got 5 1/2 litres out is it OK to put 5 litres back in and fire up or do I have to start with a few litres and keep adding.

for your auto box ,put in as much as you can with engine off, start engine with box in neutral fill till it overflows ,run through the gears with foot on the brake check it still overflows

Why would you wish to replace the fluid in the gear box with less than what's removed?

As u have listed your thread as a D1 you can ignore the information giving above. So replace the fluid with the similar amount to what was drained, then check the level via the dip stick following the procedure as stated in your owners handbook... job done.

Apologies for time to reply had a bit of a family crisis. Anyway all done now thanks for the info.will give it a second change next weekend as the oil was dirty and stank.
