Ashtray make it into something useful

Take apart 1 iPod/iPhone dock



Make it roughly fit inside the ashtray



I cut the bottom out to make running the cables easier



Test to make sure you can still close the lid



Few extra cuts to ensure it all sits level



now bond it all together - skim of filler and coat it all in paint - run the power lead and audio lead and we have a docking and charging point for my iPhone :clap2::clap2: Much better than being full of ash!!

I drive a Range Rover every penny goes to Shell or BP

Looks cool and quite pro, a common mod on old VW's, be careful tho off roading, the movement can easily damage the connector part in your handset and bugger it up, just remember to take it out before bumpy stuff...

I thought about that and the back of the phone will rest on the open lid of the Ashtray giving support and prventing the connector from being damaged

could you not put a couple of rubber bits on the underside of the lid too to stop sideways movement?
