argh! oil light came on

Just driving back to work and oil light flickered on/off,then came on permanent-no where to stop so had no choice but to limp her home-at home checked dipstick-empty,oh f**k.
Then noticed whole left hand side of inner wing and bulkhead covered in oil,expansion tank etc.
Will be looking further in the dark tonight-any pointers on what might have failed?

forgot to add 300 tdi d1

any of the oil feeds on that side turbo etc.

Think yu will find thats the other side . does he mean ns or os?

o/s, drivers side-both expasion tank and relays on bulkhead are covered in oil-have a proper look tonight-luckily she still sounded good-hopefully the sythetic oil residue was enuf to save it

most likely pipe fittings - they are known to leak, as JM sed.

Why did you not stop always stop when a oil pressure light comes on its really not worth ****ing a motor for 5 mins to check it out

No where to stop other than block main road-hopefully motor is ok,but if not I will rebuild it,but as I say she sounded no different on arriving home

Well found the problem today, the knuckle on the steering had chewed its way thru the rubber on the upper oil cooler pipe(new one on order and will be bent well out of the way)Did a temp repair with 15mm copper pipe and jubilee clips-filled her with oil and ran her up-still sounds good and oil light goes out on cranking,so may have got away with it-took it for a short run,all seems normal
