HI

The fan section of my viscous coupling is only loosely connected to the drive section these day so i thought it time to change it before it detaches completely.

I must at this stage point out i live in Bulgaria!!

Ive been round all the independents to get a new one and the only one they can turn up is for a V8 Dico 2. My Disco is a late Disco 1 V8.

Before I buy this to find out it does not fit (there is no such thing as taking stuff back for an exchange or your money back in BG) can anyone advise me - ARE they interchangeable or not??

Thanks in advance!

Get rid of it and fit an electric fan instead

I dont know how to put this without sounding arsey - The chanses of me finding someone to supply an electric fan conversion kit in Bulgaria is almost nill. The chanses of it actually working when I find it are even lower - to give you some idea i bought a new 2" fluorescent tube (tube only, not fitting) today from the local "B&Q" type store - it does not work. This is normal here!

I can sometimes get stuff shipped over from the UK if the supplier is helpful but it usually gets nicked by the postal workers here.

On the up side its 33 Deg C today

NO.......... a D2 viscous if different from the D1.. ETC1260 is for a 11 blade fan and ERR3443 for a 7 blade fan.
Part n. fo the D2 is ERR4996.

A V8 doesn't need an electric-cooling fan so there's no benefit in fitting one.

It would if the viscous was removed Shirley

Well im very glad i checked! According to my Vin No.

from Vin MA81991 on ERR3443

It would fit - however it is deffo an 11 blade fan - so i guess the whole lot has been changed in the past!?!?

Hi

Hope this helps.

I have a 1994 RRC with a MA chassis number.

And I have fitted a viscous fan from a D2. I swapped the fan blade over so it still uses the original RRC fan.

Cheers
Graeme

Same engine as mine then, black 11 blade fan driven by the serpentine belt. The 7 blade fan is cream coloured.

No doubt the D2 viscous copling will fit as the 3.9 D1 water pump is the same for the RRC, D2 and P38 RR.

I found out the hard way (just buying the first coupling that showed up)
My 1993 Range Rover have the 11 blade fan and the ERR4996 have a larger thread mount. It is even threaded in the other direction...
I now know I need the ETC1260.
