Hi guys and how are we all :D
Im just after some fellow series landy owners opinions...
Are the leafy sprung trucks to dated now to be classed as toys?
i dunno if im a minority here but my project 67 "Armour-dillo" is nearing completion now and im doing my upmost to both keep it original...ish and still armour the thing up to do a bit of green lanening...its never gonna be a competition truck i know that but the bolt on bits seem to be very few and far between, and sometimes quite lame like the "steering guard" i purchased the other day...£60 odd  (yeah thanks craddocks) iv seen ladies underwear that covers more :eek:Anyway back to my point as im half tempted to start fabbing up some things myself but would really appreciate some of your views on if you agree or am i just looking in the wrong places
many Thanks guys

I use mine as a toy, greenlaning mostly, but I'm up for a challenge too, punch challenges and the like.

I don't like steering guards for various reasons and haven't bent anything through not having one.

you can keep it standard and it is still one of the most capable 4x4s around, i know i went a lot further than you are probably planning, but ive come away with 1st place at events in my 2a which although there is not a lot of body left was completly standard underneath.
the things i would probably do are:
1.grippy tyres(sat's(does anyone else renmber them? :D:D))
2.make up a fuel tank guard
3.buy a highlift jack(they are so usefull!)
4.parabolic springs(not only are they compfortable but they give much better articulation without going stupid)
5.waffle boards are very usefull

not too dated, there capable enough to upset most amrques. They are basic to live with on a day to day basis but thats the only draw back.Mine was shoddy but pulled out hiluxs all day long

loving the feedback guys cheers!!
Parabolic springs...CHECK. brought from MM4x4...Also with 2" extended pro comps but the back seems really high looking at the shaft of the shock nearly fully extended but the front is the complete opposite with the shock nearly fully compressed...normal??
HighLift jack...CHECK. Never used it outside my garage yet but useful during the rebuild!!
SATS...Are they the old 101 wheels with a slightly deeper dish because i think i have a set of them on an ex army S2 im just about to break..?
Thanks again for your feedback guys and iv uploaded some pics on my profile if you wanna look, please keep the insults to a minimum...hahahaha

Use mine as a toy - out performs many a defender, disco and range rover on the green lanes and is definetly a lot more fun to drive around in :)
Not done that much on the bolt on kit side - mainly due to no cash, but, parabolics and pro comps, tablet pc in the dash and disco seats with 4 point harnesses

sorry about the sat confusion lol theyre realy good tyres and look great on series landrover, however i dont think they make them anymore so theyre quite hard to get hold of deestone extra grips are good aswell
