I am in no way criticising freelander spares as advertised on the link given. I have little experience with freelander VCU's as touch wood mine has been fine to date. I am merely repeating various things which have been posted on this forum, and are available to anyone who does a search

been a few issues lately with VCU's being refurbished. I cannot remember the name of the firm involved and IN NO WAY AM I SUGGESTING IT WAS THESE PEOPLE, I REALLY CAN'T REMEMBER, but they were essentially supplying units which wouldn't lock up as the viscous fluid was missing. *** edit - they were called Beaumont link to thread below ***

There was also another firm on ebay who were taking money and not supplying the goods, but I do not think it was these people. *** edit, it wasn't, they were called freelanderirdspecialists, link to thread below ***

Have a look at this too:

Ashcroft Transmissions - Viscous Coupling

ashcroft are very highly regarded, but slightly more expensive.

also, some good things have been said about bell

If you do a search in the freelander section, you'll find the details of the dodgy firms as well as the gooduns.

good luck

Thanks for the replys people :D

My pal is a trader and can get a new unit for 390+ vat but then I'd have to buy the bearings to go with...hence the reason I was looking into these units as they come ready to bolt in
