Freelander 1 Are 2004 Td4's OBDII compliant.

I have an OBD code reader that has always worked on my 04 and up diesels.

Are the td4's 04 & up compliant? It tries to connect so there is power but ends with something along the lines of "Make sure your port is connected properly and the ignition is on but not started" etc etc.

I also heard folk mention an app of somesorts for such a job.

Don't know if this helps but I have a cheap reader about 99p if i remember and I use the torque app for android and that works fine There are others but I have not tried them

Ok cheers I'll have a gander. My reader was fairly cheap & has already earnt its keep on the o'l Saabs

2004 should be obdII compliant, unless you've ended up with a pre reg and an old computer, then you'll need a dedicated unit, icarsoft or similar.

According to vin it is an 04.

As I say it sends power & tries to connect but to no avail.

I'll see if I have the radio code & if all else fails I may remove battery terminal for 10 mins or so. Providing this isn't an issue on Freelanders. Resetting things etc :/

Bluetooth reader and Torque Pro app works on my 02 and 06MY Td4's.

The answer is yes, they are OBD2 compliant.

It has been found that the spring contacts of the port can spread, giving connection issues.

Thank you I shall check the points. I did pull the adapter from it's metal bracket & give it a jiggle but didn't thoroughly inspect.
