Probably very good except no good for me trailing :-( also I have an issue with all that extra work needed to the axle case it's not favourable for me. The drop in locker is a nice same simple instia as per ashcroft or any other without modding the case.

They now make a drop in locker but doesn't have the option of lsd aswell

no substitute for a proper 100% locked axle. My bro has an ashcroft atb in the back and a torson T1 (I think) in the front and it's ok. When you need it offroad there is no substitute for a proper locker. I quite like the look of the new Kam electro solenoid operated drop in locker but with kam I'm ever so wary of its after sales support of lack of and now it's all all makes or who ever owned it now the quality of parts possibly diminishing.

Proper locker over atb any day but it's costs!

I agree, but LSD is good in the front axle with a locker in the rear axle, steers better and really excellent traction :)

If I kept my detroit locker in I would go for an atb on the front but I now want a selectable air locker like an ashcroft or kam drop in lockers front and rear.

Now I'm on open diffs currently Kam hd front shafts, 4 pin front diff and std 10 spline rear but I plan on fitting ashcroft as soon as funds allow I have half an on board air system in and a tank to sling up underneath above thre transfer box so should all work out ok.

Detroit and Tru trac works really well for me, I got them from Crown. My 90 is pretty low powered, so I don't think it upsets the road handling as much as on more powerful landies.

Never had the Ashcroft, but people seem to like them, had ARBs before, they are good, but I liked the simplicity of the Detroit set up :)

I could do with selling my salisbury rear axle wih detroit locker or just the locker i guess it's worked faultless in 2 different axles (ratio swap) but I went back to rover in the end as the 4.7:1 ratio is great on 37 inch tyres not so good with 33's!

Yea detroit really is fit and forget!! Except it does change the way the motor drives. Not rally really bad but you will be changing rear bushes more often and going back to open diffs (after having a detroit for years and the last year an Aussie locker in the front open diffs drive so nice!

My old detroit is just sat in my shed, when I had it fit and a trutrac it pulled on the road abit this was far worse when towing some weight,

It's really really important the rear bushes and a frame are 100% also tyres are the same circumference. Cornering on and off the throttle was always fun accelerate and it feels like it's underteering and drop off the throttle and it tightens right up. Tis ok and IS manageable but it's not nice compared to open diffs.

Mine isn't too bad on the road, but it is mostly used on the farm and round the lanes.
I don't like it for towing, although I have done a few tows with it, not huge weights though.

For that reason I renewed all the springs, suspension bushes and A frame ball joint when I fitted the lockers.
And I agree also about the tyres, a matched set, make and wear, and exactly even pressures is the only way to go.
I just don't go fast enough on the road to worry about that stuff, just drive it like a tractor and the handling is fine. :D
