Hello All,

I have the book symbol on my 1997 P38 4.6 HSE (Gems) and was hoping there is someone living near Twickenham that would be willing to read the fault codes from the HEAV for me.

All the flaps move when different positions are selected and it blows hot and cold so theres nothing obvious. It doesn't blow very cold though so perhaps it need a recharge of refrigerant. Would this throw up an error code?

I'd be very grateful if someone could help.

Check that BOTH your blower motors are operating - easiest way to do this is to take off the pollen filter caps on the windscreen scuttle and look / feel / listen. This will throw up the 'book of death' - also check relays 6 and 7 in the engine compartment fuse box. 7 is particularly troublesome for some reason, prone to overheating and burning out, taking the fuse box circuit board with it. Any signs of scorching on the plastic, it's recommended to replace the fuse box as it can lead to all sorts of drama down the line.

Failing that, I think jamesblake is somewhere near your area and he has a nanocom...

Paddington area. Green cable only so I'm not sure if it would work. I have a few probs of my own (no mobility) but bring this up in a week or so.

Well it's gone off now? And came back on just as I was coming to the end of my journey!

I have the temp set, and leave the thing in AUTO so who knows what it wants. I love intermittent faults!

many thanks gencybay, I'll be in touch.
