Have got an auto import coming this week and the plan is to get a few jobs done and give the engine a little tweak.

Looking at tuning options I came across this:

RonBox VP Tuning-diesels VP37 module for older diesels

Searching hasn't really came up with anything other than a few on here making their own boxes but I was wondering if anyone has used a synergy box and if there were any true benefits and more importantly did it damage your engine?

Decat, egr blank and service is already getting done.

Hi, not on a landie but I have used a roveron tuning box on a mondeo tdci before.

Depending how you tuned it - Power!! - it gave noticeable improvement in performance but more importantly economy, measured over several full tanks before and after increased by around 10% from 39/40 to 43/44.

My mondeo had done a few miles tho and I think the electrickery got confused after a while as at top end - 120/130 it would sometimes just cut out but I think that was more a fault with the car than the box!

I actually sent box back for a check and they looked at it and said it was fien so have experienced after sales service to be good too.

You need someone who has used it on a landie though to comment really.

Economy was what I was thinking really. Being a 2 ton motor it's never going to be quick but with the mileage I cover a 2mpg gain would pay itself off pretty quickly.

They seem pretty well respected over in the gaylander section but seems to be very little info for the tdi.

Yeh I appreciate we are talking different types of engines here, but heck if I could squeeze another 2-3mpg from mine Id be over the moon.

And having now checked the link that aint too bad a price either - it will pay for itself fairly quickly if it does what it says on the tin. Quite tempting, will peruse that further later...
