I have watched the video on you tube. I have removed the fuel pump. There is no filter in the top part of the pump as shown on the video. The rest looks the same as in the video. Do you think it has been removed by the previous owner and never replaced? Had the freelander now for 3 years. There is no spring either.
As above, the fuel pump is in the tank. It has the sender unit on the side and the fuel filter is in the upper section. I'm pretty sure that filter is a necessary part of the plumbing to get the fuel to the injectors. Otherwise there will be a dirty great gap in the fuel delivery system - pun intended.
Having been very intimate with my fuel pump a couple of weeks ago (in and out about 5 times), it would appear very easy to bypass the fuel filter - in fact I was tempted myself just to test the effectiveness of the rubbish filter I'd bought.
All it would need is a small pipe to connect the in/out connectors that fit into the filter - I wonder if that's what the previous owner did to this one?
Can you provide a photo?
Or as Longbolt is suggesting, if it's a TD I don't think the filter is in the pump...
Defo a possibility on the bodge pipe.
Is yours still behavin itself Soss?
Yep, running sweet.. Still trading up though, possibly to a facelift TD4, as late plate as I can get..
Failing that some other 4x4 - mishy or summat. Hoping to spend less than £5k
