Hi all,
I hate doing this, but I've exhausted every other avenue. This man, Mike Russell, ran an e-bay store out of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales. He had a decent feedback score and communicated very politely.
After I crashed my Rangie on a slippery road back in November, I dealt with Mike to get replacement bumpers and lights. Shipping all these heavy parts to Norway was neither easy nor cheap, so I decided to try and organise it through the logistics department at my workplace. In the meantime I also struck a deal with Mike on an LPG kit he'd removed from the same donor car. In all, I'm over £500 into this guy.
When I finally found a method of shipment, I contacted Mike again. I was answered by someone claiming to be his wife, saying he'd had a massive heart attack and would be out for 3 weeks. She offered to send me the parts if I could explain to her what I needed, but in sympathy with their situation I told her to leave it until Mike was back on his feet. This was back in the first week of April. Since then I've had no replies to my e-mails. Paypal tells me that my time to open a dispute and claim my funds back is expired. His ebay shop is closed, but someone left him feedback as late as last half of May.
I don't know if Mike has passed away, or if he intentionally ripped me off.
Either way, I'm eager to get in touch with him, his wife or whoever else is managing what's left of the store.
On ebay, he operated under the name of Anglesey Auto Accessories.

Does anyone know Mike or his associates and can you please help me get in touch with them?

Regards,
Henrik

Hi. Do you have a trading address for him?
I used to live on Anglesey and I still go back every couple of months to see my little daughter so I could have a look.
The island is only about 30 miles across so I should be able to find someone who knows of him.

Hi
No, that's the problem. He never did send me an address or a phone number, and ebay will not give up that information. Let me know if you come across something.

Thanks!
Henrik

You could try a PM to DAVE90, he's a Defender driver who lives in the middle of Angelsey.

Ok, thanks. I may try that, but I've just had some fairly credible information that the business went bust and the owner exiled himself to Spain. I'll find him some day - maybe when I retire I will dedicate my life to hunting him down. :D

Hi Henrik

This may be a bit of a long shot, but there is someone on Ebay trading as Anglesey auto parts, who is based at Bodorgan, Anglesey. Looking at his profile he can't have been trading for long only 279 on his score sheet.

Hope this helps

Alan

Good spot Alan. 279 buyers have left feedback and virtually all the feedback comments have been from April 2011 onwards. However ebay profile says he has been a member since Dec 2005. I notice that the name of his shop is Anglesey Auto Parts 2011.

Coincidence? :confused2:

Worth further enquiry, although of course this business may be entirely different (in case the lawyers are reading this forum)!

I know.
I've been in touch with them. At first they didn't reply to my emails, but going through their feedback profile, I actually found that they'd bought some BMW parts from Aglesey Auto Accessories, so I thought they must know who he is. When I referred to this in an email, I got an answer. It was this guy who told me that Mike had gone bust and moved to Spain. He say's he didn't know him at all - not even his name. He is now fed up with my questions and has sternly asked me to keep out of his hair.

It is very odd that the names are so similar (Angleseyautoaccessories09 vs Angleseyautoparts2011), but feedback shows they were definitely in business at the same time. Feedback being left for one from the other kind of goes against the idea that they're one and the same, so I don't think they are. If I did, I wouldn't state such a suspicion on an open forum anyway. Also, Anglesey Auto Parts have excellent feedback, so it would seem he's an honest man who keeps his customers happy.

It seems I'll have no choice but to write it off, but I'll keep my eyes open.

It's a bitch!

Henrik

Just a thought but did you use your Visa credit card to pay using Paypal? If so, you may have some way to recover the cash. I use a bank card to back up my Ebay but some folk may use a Visa. Good luck. I hope you find him.

A lot of ebayers use two different names.sometimes they keep one name just for getting shot of iffy stuff.maybe speak to his local police and let him know you are doing so.

see ebay item 130510752088.notice the sellers name and his other items for sale. ........:suspicious:

Hi all,
Here's a pleasant update: Mike has finally made contact and has started refunding what he owes in increments. Maybe he read this thread and felt guilty - i don't know. Anyway, it seems I'll be getting my money back. So thanks, everybody, for your tips and help. I will now let the matter rest and leave Mike to sort things out.

Thanks again,
Henrik

I apologise for resurrecting an old thread but just a heads up for anyone purchasing anything on ebay.

Angleseyautoaccessories09 and Angleseyautoparts2011 were run by the same person and now he trades as North Wales Range Rover Spares (n.w.r.r.s)

Thanks for that, a very useful first post, I was looking at an auto box from there. Now let us know who you are and what car you have:)

Yup, old thread but very useful info. I tried contacting n.w.r.r.s. to get in touch with Mike, who still owes me several hundred pounds, but they denied any and all affiliation with the man. However, I'm sure the poster here has good reason to claim that this seller is indeed the same man who traded as angleseyautoaccessories. It doesn't surprise me that my attempt to get the man to come clean failed - he is, after all, a fraud.
Beware!!

Henrik

Henrik,

There are TV programmes in the UK called "Rogue Traders" and "Watchdog", both on the BBC. Why not get in touch with them?

We can then watch as they investigate, visit his premises and see him squirm!!

Good to know. I buy a fair amount of P38 'bits' and this will be one seller I will avoid!
