Ayup,
Got up extra early this morning, thought i'd clean my landy underneath and clean up the front brakes whilst i wait for the new cylinders. Got it all done took it for a quick test, all was well, got back in it later and it's running really bloody rough with no power and a shed load of crap coming out of the exhaust. It did this before and it cost me £525 to put right, something to do with the pistons etc. Not got a clue about diesel engines so no wiser when the mechanic explained it all to me. Just parted with the hard earned and drove home. This was only a couple of months ago.
So what i need is either a lottery win or an expert in blowing things up.
Or do i put my old petrol back on the road after saving up for a recon gearbox?
No answers required really, just musing out loud.

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

landy's will self-destruct if any of the following events occur:
  1. you purchase a landy.
  2. your given a landy as a gift from a "friend".
  3. you acquire a landy by any other means.
no explosives required. the destructive force each landy produces as it "blows up" varies immensely, some will dissolve from the inside out where as others go out with alot of bangs, smoke and oil spray! :D

edit: sorry forgot to add, you could probably find a replacement engine for pennies rather than forking out hunderds on an engine repair.

Ayup,
Trouble is that at the moment even pennies are difficult to come by, we're expecting a baby in Oct, the landy has already used up my spare cash and my wife wants me dead lol
Plus i have no clue whatsoever about removing then fitting an engine, so i think semtex has to be the only way forward lol

The IRA, Iraqui 'militants' and al Quida, have all been asking the same question....
They set AVM's in the dirt, and send hummers into orbit, just like they see in the Satrday afternoon 'action' adventures they get on satalite TV... but every time they catch a wolf, a couple of squaddies fall out, and start loosing off at them with HMG's....
They tend to be a bit deaf when they report back to baracks, but otherwise not badly damaged... but that was probably due to riding in a rover, rather than being blown up by semtex!

Ah the arrival of a small child usually does bring everything to a complete halt for a few months!!

what you need is a local landy doctor, unfortunately NHS ones are really hard to come by these days so it's likely you'll need to go private. Every area will have a landy expert who can diagnose your aliment or maybe ever sort the problem if you pay enough in beer/chips.

where about are you and your landy located?

Ayup,
I'm in the beautiful and scenic city of York ,which i will be able to walk around and admire the fantastic architecture and olde worlde buildings etc. Cos me pigging landy is knackered lol

Right, having slept on it (not the landy, me bed) I have two options as i see it, bearing in mind i have 2 buggered land rovers. The petrol one i have has a good engine but the gearbox is naff, the diesel one has a naff engine and a good gearbox, so do i swop engines over? Or do i continue with original option and blow them both up and buy a reliant robin??

The trouble with a Robin, if you get a tight nut and reach for the breaker bar you are used to using on your Land Rover you're likely to lift it off the axle stands!

shurely a gearbox swap would be easier? just a case of unbolting things rather than changing fuel lines and electrics.

yeah but.
I've done a fair of work to the diesel one, like springs, shocks etc and to be honest i don't like bloody diesels anyway. And if it all goes wrong again a petrol one is much easier to blow up lol

Theres nowt up wee a reliant, I borrowed one, I think the owber knew that I'd give it back.
Sling a rope round the tree in't garden and oik out both engines and boxs, put the 2 good bits together, then shove all the manky bits in the back of the other landy and blow that up.
Al quida might be able to help, if i was till working at the rof plant I'dve nicked some rdx for you.
