I'm needing help or pics regarding the routing of my heater control cables. Haven't got a bloody clue how they go. The diagram in the parts book isn't really much help. 
Anyone Had Their Dash Apart?

The fan speed one goes along under the dash tray to the passengers bulkhead holes - pops out and wires up ,
The diverter flaps run behind speedo then down into the dash lower tray through the holes - lower dash tray needs fully disassembled to get them in to place
The temperature cable goes behind speedo - out the drivers side dash holes and along the top of the engine bay to the heater box , the arm is on the side of the box nearest the engine and is a chode to get at.

Ahh that's interesting. I thought that the arm on the side of the heater was the speed control and the arm on the top was temp control??

I hope not.
I was doing mine from memory but the fan works when i move the fan lever so i assume the other ones right too.

Questions like this I think, no problem! I took loads of pictures, just to be safe, cos I'm getting on a bit, and my memory is not what it used to be!
Then checking the pictures out I think, bloody hell!
Anyway
Haven't worked out where the speed control cable goes. But, the two right hand of instrument panel cables - temp control and on screen or feet.
These two cables, I'm pretty sure, come out of the bulkhead in pic 1
Screen or feet cable goes to the side of the box. Pic 2. Cant see the connection behind the heater water pipes. The cable is running just under the break pipe.
Pic 3 - temp control to the top of the box.
My heater box is in a cardboard box under a lot of other parts in the garage. I'm going to a wedding tomorrow, but will be able to check the heater box out late Sunday afternoon to be 100% sure.

The screen or feet cable cant go to the heater box , thats no possible as the flap that controls that is in the lower dash cavity . The hole for the cable to go theough is just to the left of the speedo.

Seems like there is a lot of ambiguity here. Makes you wonder how many heaters aren't working due to folk having cables connected to wrong arms.

Ok. I've just had a look at the heater box on my bench.
Arm on top of heater box = temperature control
Arm on side of heater box = blower speed
Arm on top of heater box = temperature control
Arm on side of heater box = blower speed

What age is that then ?
Mines an 87 with i believe original heater box.

Not quite!
The blower-speed isn't controlled by the arm on the heater-box.
The LH lever on the dash not only operates the fan motor (OFF-LOW-HIGH) but in the upper position closes the flap in the heater-box to prevent any through-flow of air with the motor off. The fan is obviously electric and you will see the contacts for this on the dash lever, the arm on the heater-box physically moves the internal flap.
