Hello,

Does anyone have a complete 200tdi rocker shaft that they want to sell / donate? They're quite hard to come by!

Thanks,
-Tom

Hello there Mr. Oil Dripper sir. It's the whole assembly that I'm after. Shaft, rockers, springs, washers / shims all in place etc. I'm basically looking for a cheaper alternative to rebuilding my existing one! It's a bit worn and it is occasionally throwing my valve clearances off.

POS I've never heared of anyone to have so many problems with one engine!!!

Do you go looking for faults or is it you just got a right old ****er?

Yeah lots of people say that to me! The stupid thing is that it runs exceptionally well. It's just got a really annoying misfire at idle that varies from shaking the entire 90 from side to side, to not misfiring at all  Everything else is fine because I've ended up rebuilding the entire engine in the process of trying to eradicate the issue. The rocker shaft is the only bit that I haven't touched besides setting the tappets ;) I will not let it defeat me! (less a replacement rocker shaft makes no difference!)

Ive got one you could have

Cool! Is it complete with all the shims and springs etc? I may have sourced one down the road from me a little earlier this evening. The chap knows he has a rocker shaft from a Land Rover in his shed, he just isn't sure whether or not it's from the old V8 in his current Rangie, or the 200tdi in his old Rangie! I should find out tomorrow, so in the case that I still need one, how much would you like for yours including postage to Leeds? :)

its still in the head so yes complete.
Ive got 3 engines not one of them is running right :(
Ive just rebuilt one for my defender with new shells rings etc and have no oil pressure.
price??? you can have it if you fancy collecting it. if you have any 200 engine parts you wish to give in return then great, ( could really use a defender timing case and cover )
its here if you need it anyway

200tdi engine seem to be causing quite a bit of bother for people at the moment. The annoying thing is that I see a lot of 200tdi 90's and 110's throughout the week and they all seem to be absolutely spot on, even the ones which have clearly been neglected.

Have you tried swapping the oil pump for one out of your other two engines and seeing how it runs?

I seem to have made quite substantial progress this weekend with my engine however. You might recall that the problem I have been having for well over a year, probably nearer two years now is the rough / inconsistent engine rhythm at idle. I replaced the injection pump with a brand new unit two and a half years ago because the old unit was starting to show signs of being worn - engine revs increasing randomly, lack of power / response and leaking throttle spindle etc. I naturally assumed that the new injection pump would be spot on what with it being a brand new factory sealed unit. Anyway, following a full engine rebuild, new injectors etc. I wondered whether the new pump might have been over-fuelling at idle which was almost 'flooding' the cylinders as so to speak and bogging the engine down at idle rpm. After all, when the engine started to misfire at idle, the exhaust fumes were quite acrid. On Saturday morning I decided to wind the full fuel screw out 180 degrees and the engine has never run better. It's not smoking, it's not missing, the throttle response / torque and overall performance is drastically increased and most importantly, the idle is smooth and consistent. Now whether or not this is just a great coincidence, or whether or not my pump has been calibrated incorrectly, that being the factory worker has wound the screw in one turn too far I do not know but it seems to have done the job for now. I still know that there is something wrong with the rocker shaft however because the tappet clearances like to consistently adjust themselves even though they tighten up on the lock nut correctly.

I will see how it goes this week and if it behaves its self like it has done all weekend then I will consider this entire fiasco resolved!

Fingers crossed!
-Tom
