I bought a haynes manual but it doesnt cover my engine. I am not sure if my dipstick is the correct one as there is no oil on it but no light either. Im gonna do an oil change but wondered if anyone knows what oil to use and how much. And for bonus points, how longs the dipstick

Between 5 and 6 liters for an oil change. It does vary between engines a bit. A little tip. Never let the oil get low enough for the oil pressure light to come on as the bottom end will fail very quickly.

when the books quote how much oil the engine holds is always from dry. and when refilling I always put a drop into the oil filter . hope this helps

I wasnt deliberately letting it run dry I checked cause I was getting an oily smell when I broke out the heavy foot. Thanks for all the advice on another note all four windows make a noise but dont move. Any clues what 4 parts I need to order

This^^^^ On the V6, always pre-fill the oil filter with clean oil. This will save the bottom end. The V6 uses narrow low drag bearings that simply don't tolerate lack of oil, even for a few seconds.

This is a common problem on the V6. It's caused by a build up of oil in the intake plenum. If you hardly ever open the taps, quite a lot of oil sits in the runners. If you then open her up, the oil gets carried into the cylinders by the huge volume of air the engine consumes!
Window faults could be a number of things. Looking is the only way to tell.

V6 inlet plenum motors don't like oil contamination, so don't overfill.
I measure 5.3L and fully pre-fill the oil filter.
Not aware of dipstick problems.
