Hi
I've got a d2 v8 with a N.M.E. ag multipoint conversion . Its started 'missing' and occasionally backfiring when in top gear and 1500 rpm (autobox) especially under load ie an incline . if I kick down its ok but if i try to keep it in top , or if I'm going with the traffic at 40mph ish it judders and misses. It had new coil packs and leads about 2000 miles ago , new lambda sensors and a new (used) maf. The lpg system was serviced when the coil packs and leads were done. I know it has standard plugs for petrol engine which were new just prior to the lpg service. The guys that did the lpg service did say they would normally use different plugs to standard but as these were so new they should be ok.
It doesn't miss as such on petrol but I'm sure it could be smoother at low rpm.

any suggestions or someone local with a code reader (Surrey area)
Cheers
Andy

Hi , Sounds to me like your timing may be out - check its advanced for LPG running and reset it for petrol aswell

I find that our V8 doesn't like to pull too low down in its rev range, even on petrol, it is best when spinning at over 2000 rpm.

That's not to say it won't do anything below 2000, but it doesn't like serious lugging like a diesel would be happy with. That is on gas or petrol.

You can trickle round town in 4th or 5th at 30mph and it will accelerate away gently, but if you want to get cracking , drop it to 3rd and it will go.

Ours is a Disco 2 with Zavoli multipoint lpg.

The other issue is the long-term fuel trim for cars that run on gas for long periods, we found that the car ran better if we did give some running time on petrol.

Our plugs are double-platinum Champions.

Hi,
I was just wondering if you ever got to the bottom of this problem as i also have a D2 V8/lpg on a 03 plate doing exactly the same!!!
thanks..

correct. lpg is a dry mixture, is good to run on petrol once a week to wet them up.
