Hi ladies/gents changed fuse box all ok for 20 mins then boom alternator fault and no rev counter had alternator battery checked and the experts say its ok?I don't think so.When the rev counter disappears I get no throttle position 0 on nanocom and also road speed 0 at 2380rpm and battery is showing 13.4 dropping to 13.3 Any ideas guys?I also cleaned a lot of connectoers in the footwell areas as they were showing corrosion.
thanks
chris

Battery Voltage is too low - should be above 14V.

Have you measured the voltage directly at the battery instead of what the Nanocom is telling you? As I know on the L322 the reading you get on the display is the internal ECU voltage and not the direct battery voltage.

Not on the diesel. He's got an oil burner so standard should be 13.8V. I'm not sure the Nanocom gives the right voltage on all the screens.

That temperature, it it sometimes minus 4 and sometimes plus 70 degrees centigrade? Randomly switching between the 2?

Have you downloaded the electrical troubleshooting guide off rangerovers.net and worked your way through it?

Hi Grrrr when I attach Nanocom and go to EDC instruments it shows coolant temp -4.8 and slowly climbs.voltage at battery terminals 13.8 same at alternator output also same on battery terminals.checked fusebox and fuel pump relay was really hot to touch.I will get onto Range rovers.net when I get the time.
Thanks
chris

you can spend hours on RR.net discussing the virtues of your P38 truck on coils and big wheels

:p:p

13.8V is fine.

I'm not sure that temperature's right. Pretty sure mine's never gone that low. @wammers , does yours do this?

Hi Grrrr Hoses are fine and temp gauge is fine.No coolant loss and no discolour in oil cap.Do you know where the Nanocom is picking this overheat signal from and could this trigger the loss of rev counter?Getting confused now.
thanks
chris

Rev counter is driven by the engine ECU using three beats per revolution as signalled by the CPS. Electrical trouble shooting manuals are contained within RAVE.

Naocom sometimes gets into a fit. Check under instruments what is the set value for overheat warning. Mine is set at 96C and Nanocom sometimes display the warning, to see that set point has changed to 9 C or lower. Reset n everything is fine.
