Any else cocked up removing rear seats? Snapped bolts

I took the rear seats out of the Disco a couple years ago and only two of the bolts came out, the others snapped.

Now I'd like to put the seats back in. I flattened what was left of the stud and punched the centre and managed to drill through two of them (drilling slowly with a small bit at first and then going up a size and used cutting fluid) hoping that what was left of the bolt would come out but it didn't.

I tried easy outs but they did not work and tried heat in the hope that what was left of the bolts would expand and come out of the threads but that didn't happen either.

Any ideas? Or anyone in Wilts fancy having a look and helping out? There's a dairy milk in it for you

;)

If you mean the bolts that hold the seat base in then mine snapped too. I found the brackets slid along the seat frame so I could drill 2 new holes altogether.

Wasn't sure about just drilling new holes, I thought there may be some kind of strengthening where the original bolts were.
Thanks for the idea

Got a similar problem on my dads disco. Been doing the boot floor and the seat belt clip retaing bolts seized up. The crappy torx fitting ones. Ended up drilling them and grinding the nuts off after removing floor.
Any idea what size they are supposed to be?

Sorry, the rear seat belts are in a bag somewhere and not sure where. Would have a butchers for you but away for the weekend and leaving straight from work

They nearly always snap off. **** gets caught in the threads from underneath and rusts them up :(

Half of mine broke when I pulled them out to do the boot floor.

Best advice is to clean the threads from underneath before you start but too late now :D

Also instead if drilling, once sheared off try to wind the threaded part all the way through from underneath. This way you are winding clean thread through so should be easy.

As for the seatbelt torx bolts and bracketry, most of it is available from britpart but I think some of the prices are remarkably steep.

Check it out anyway... :)

Just for people's info, I was under the car today so thought I'd have a look at where the bolts come through to the underside and it doesn't look like there is reinforcement where the bolts come through only a captive nut maybe.
