is the chassis any different forward from the front axle when you compare a 1959 series 2 and a series 3?

also lwb/swb? are they any different?

To My knowledge, the only differences between a series 2a and 3 chassis are the gearbox crossmembers (series 3 clutch slave cylinder housing fouls on 2a chassis member), check strap mountings over rear chassis and the front (thus applicable to you) brake pipe arrangement. Not quite sure how its different, sure a search on google or such would throw a couple of useful hits. But i'm sure that its nothing that can't be sorted out with a bit of thinking..

Later series 3's had different front dumbirons from the earlier 3 and 2a type, the additional steel bracing down to the forward spring eye bolthole extends longer back along the chassis rail (ie the thickened bit where the number gets stamped).

There's also something about the size of the hole for the starting handle changing at some point, although I have no info on that.

Essentially they're interchangeable though.
