I went to take my MAF sensor out today but the torx bolt things have a little pin in the middle of the recess to stop you putting the torx socket thing in. I've never come across these before! Are they some sort of cunning anti tamper bolt? How the hell do you get them out????

Get an anti tamper torx bit set available at b&q or ask santa if yer quick. bin usin em fer years mate...

I presume they have a hold drilled in the torx bit then? Are these anti tampers torxs fairly common then? I've been working on cars and bikes for years and i've never come across these before?

hi, you need a special screwdriver called a 'T20' I got one from a tool stockist for £1

Ohh! FFS give ower it's crimbo

just slot it wi yer hacksaw emm!

job dun

If I understand the above correctly, that's exactly what I've done. (some 3 weeks ago, cleaned the MAF (as Ming said he does and intend to do it also once a year from now on) with breakcleaner (after I could get it out with a flat screwdriver) and re-oiled and re-installed my K&N-filter again and things seems to work swifter again.

Happy Seasons Greetings to you all.

why not just drill a hole in the centre of a normal torx bit ;)

A normal torx bit has 6 points, the one on the MAF only has 5 so it's no normal bit. Tried, in vain, to find such 5 star torx key, went to all the specialised hardware stores around here but no go.

how do you slot em wif a hacksoar if them is recessed?

Hi slob,

The one in the back is pretty easy to do, the one in the front is more difficult, to slot that one I took out the small blade of the holder and with a piece of cloth I kept the blade in hand and with small strokes I was able to get the screw slotted.
