Good news, MOT passed today. One advisory was that a front anti roll bar link needs replacing. I tend to be a bit ott with maintenance so will do the other front one too, as they’re cheap is it worth doing the rear ones while I’m at it? Do they degrade over time or just fail?

The rear drop links are also cheap and easy to replace. Once the rubbers split they wear out and get sloppy. When changing mine I found that the ARB bushes were badly worn so I replaced them, and new bump stops too. All in it made a big improvement to the handling.

I probably wouldn’t have thought to do them but for what they cost it makes sense. I much prefer replacing things before they fail if I can, might as well do it and get the benefit rather than flop about on worn bushes.

Like @cmryan stated, the links are easy to replace. I prefer to use Meyle HD links on my Disco 2.
If your Disco 2 has a lift and you want more articulation, you can install the longer Disco 3 front sway bar links on the front and the longer D2 fronts links on the rear.

What are the benefits to the HD ones? No lift, just new oem suspension with SLS and ACE. The articulation is really impressive as it is. She gets used as my daily driver and gets a few laning trips a year too.

I did mine, back & front all new when I removed the ACE, one of the front ones failed at the ball joint after about 15000 miles. I just replaced the pair again, and it must just have been a faulty joint, because the others were all still tight, but the one that failed was all rusted out, it finally separated completely... it had been driving me mad for weeks banging and clonking :)

As mine had been done before, took me about half an hour to fit two new drop links and new ARB bushes... sounds and drives great now :)

I just got two Bearmach ones from my friendly local LR spares place... Beam Ends Landrover. Cost £10 each. These could well be the same as the ones I already replaced, but as I said, when I removed them again, only one joint was bad, the other three were tight as new, so must have been am isolated failure, and for £10 each I'm not going to argue the toss :)

The HD ones mentioned above are £12 so will go for them, let’s see what the extra £2 gets me! Going to do the panhard rod bushes while I’m at it too. I hope to be adding plenty of miles to the current 160k as long as it continues to behave.

Another £100 spent with LR direct. We’re doing great things for the economy keeping these things going!

ARB bushes
All new HD roll bar links
Panhard link bushes
All new oem bolts
Few other miscellaneous bits to sort the loose engine cover etc.

Is it wrong I’m quite excited for its arrival o_O
