Hi, I searched the forum for an answer before posting but nothing doing. Just wanted to check. Intermittent sweep of windscreen very sticky, and unless the screen is very wet, will only partially sweep. Low speed sweep, no problem, high speed, also no problem. But in all cases, the wipers will not park themselves and i have to estimate the park position and switch off manually. Fuses OK. Do you think wiper Motor is duff, or is there a separate controller/switch/relay that I could possibly change or bully into working again?
Any suggestions appreciated.

if there is a common symptom for all the 3 modes IMO the motor's parking switch is at fault... cos the low speed is working via switch and IDM(inteligent driver module, integral part of the fusebox), the intermittent is via switch, IDM and BCU, and the fast is only through the switch...so the only two common parts for all modes are the switch and the motor...and the switch seems good

the other (worst) possibility is to have two parallel faults, the motor's parking switch and the rotary temporiser switch for intermittent wipe.

hunt around in the search section. theres a good article on how to change the motor. also you can buy just the motor without the arms for about £45.

Thanks for that xat44. Looked on e bay, and even 2nd hand wiper motors were £120 to£130 a piece. I don't mind dismantling the wiper mechanism and having a go at replacing the motor. Just hope this fixes the problem. Will get the replacement part and will post again if I have any luck.

strange, cos a new replacement whole mechanism with motor is £111.53 inc.VAT DKD100620 WINDSCREEN WIPER AND MECHANISM ASSY | Discovery 2 1998-2004: Body/Fittings: Glass/Windscreen | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series

but before that u can try to open the motor and clean/fix the contacts within... that's why there are remanufactured items on ebay

£25.00 for a windscreen wiper motor, eBay. All the way from the Scottish Highlands where I am pretty sure it had lots of use.

Going to fit it today and hopefully that will be the fix!

Thanks for suggestions/help on this subject.

Will post if it works/Will ask for more suggestions if it dosent!
