Hi Guys
I did not want to start a new thread about side lights, i have just purchased a 1995 300 tdi disco, the right hand side lights do not work & it blows the fuse under the dash if left in when the lights are switched on, however if the light switch is on & then the fuse is placed in the fuse box the 20 amp fuse under the bonnet blows instead, i have checked all the usual suspects, tow bar, glove box & have changed the light switch for a known good one, so no side lights in bumper rear cluster front sidelight or instrument lights all dials & warning lighs are working, this is doing my head in now so i thought some of you clever chaps might be able to give me a few pointers, as the previous owner said when asked they were all working in the morning before the sale...yeah no help there....thanking you in advance & bare in mind i am not an electrician.....cheers...Forgot to mention all other lights in the rear cluster work ok

Well this is disappointing all you wonderfully experienced people & no replies I have read all the other threads & they are not quite the same problem as mine....cheers

Have you tried taking the bulbs out and checking the bulbs/bulb holders for shorts?

The bigger fuse blows first when all the lights are on as the load is bigger, and the voltage lower at the fuse under the dash.

I'd be looking at powering the individual lights up from a completely separate source, and also check to see what else in hanging on that side's lights.

The right-hand sidelights come off F8 on a Red/Orange wire. The feed for the front RH side light is coming off T23 on the fusebox, that is the only connection on that terminal, so if you take that out, you can see if that cures the problem. If it does then your fault is in that cable to the sidelight, there is nothing else on that wire.

The rear RH taillights, trailer socket feed & right rear tail lights are on a red/orange wire from T7 on the fusebox, all those connections come together at a header Joint S403 before a single wire goes to T7.

If you disconnect the wire from T7 and it cures the problem, then you'll have to dig out the header S403 and split the connections so you can isolate the fault.

Don't know if this makes any difference I disconnected the rear light cluster completely put the 10 amp back in under the dash switched the lights on & the 20 amp under the bonnet blew so does this mean the problem is at the front cheers

Ok took out t23 put 10 amp back in t7 switched lights on and the 20 amp blew again under the bonnet so I guess this is going to take a while. Thanks for the reply peter amny more suggestions
