Last week, I picked up an unused, sharp rivet in my rear drivers side tyre. I could hear the rivet hitting the ground as i drove along (tick...tick... etc). When I took the rivet out the tyre lost pressure rapidly (i.e. right
through).
So there was I...jack out, spanners ready, then crack - I broke the locking-wheelnut-key Fortunately, my local non-Stealer (thanks White's) was nearby, and he popped along with a locking-wheelnut-key and got me going with the spare wheel (and wouldn't take any payment - what nice prople we meet in Land Rover-land).
The hole was close to the shoulder of the tyre, so the high-street tyre repairers (kwik fit, national etc) wouldn't touch it.
I got a local specialist to pop a tube in, and all was well.
Last night, I got another puncture, same tyre
The full set of BFG AT's are ~50% worn (55000 miles) so I'm reluctant to buy a new tyre (would probably buy 2 to keep the axle on the same treads)...
Dropped the tyre in for vulcanizing today, collecting tomorrow, hope it all works OK...
I've also ordered a Waxoyl kit, and new front disks/pads (the originals are 125,000 miles old!) so it looks like a fun weekend of tyre rotating, waxoyling and new brake disks/pads...
