Evening people,
Right I have the engine out of my D1 at the moment trying to put a stop to all the oil leaks, there is a lot of them.
Anyway while its out and on the stand I don't decided to replace the leaking injector pump with a known good second hand one I had in my big pile of parts. So I got the engine at TDC and put a locking pin in the flywheel and removed the belt then the old pump.
I then fitted the good pump and drive sprocket but the issue I am having is getting the locking pin in to the pump, if I rotate the pump so the pin fits then remove the socket the pump springs back and holds the pin in that tight you can't remove it and I can't rotate the pump in small increments as it just springs forward.
Would the tension of the belt being fitted remove the pressure on the locking pin enough that would allow it to removed or have I done something wrong?
