Hi All,

Just in the throws of buying a Defender 90 Turbo diesel 1990 for eldest son.

I myself have had in the past a 2A van, a lightweight, series 3 truck cab, a series 3 county and a Range Rover so I do like my Landies.

We are purchasing this as its the cheapest insurance for him (18 yr old) just passed test £1600 through aviva.

Hope I pick up some good tips and share in interesting debate and conversation on various subjects.

PS Forgot to mention, I am new to diesels, all were petrol and RR was LPG converted.

Welcome I heard the van types are cheaper for young lads have a read of our insurance sections :)

Cheers folks.
Picked the TD up tonight and drove the 25 mile home 8 mile on M62 and it pottered nicely at 50mph.
Ran well and sounds ok.
Full fluid change planned for Friday and a clean up.
Very pleased with it.

Well, got rear exhaust section on.
Fuel filter changed.
Air filter changed and it looked like an oil filter, so did all the breather pipes and the oil filler cover as well.
Oil filter changed and new engine oil filled up.
Gear box oil changed.
Both diff's had oil changed.
Prop shaft joints greased.
Power steering topped up.
Coolant topped up.
Screen wash bottle swilled out and and filled with 50-50 mix.
Rear cross member wire brushed and painted.

Just transfer box to do on the fluids.
Next brakes to check.
