The resistor for my blower was disconnnected and described as being at fault on my 1990 vogue when I got it. So I shelled out on a replacement resistor from atlantic british and hooked it to the red plug hanging in the passenger footwell.
My blower still doesnt come on on any setting. The resistor warms up and you can see the interior light dimming when the fan switch is selected. Am I looking at a knackered blower motor? Is there a relay I can replacel as a cheap punt?
Thanks in advance

Yes it is there but I just hooked up the new one in the footwell to test if it worked.
There is a black plug dangling down as well in the footwell, I cant see what it connects to, I wonder if its the blower? Ah well, I guess its dash out at some point either way. Doh.

Ok, another question done to death (but I couldnt find anything from searching),

What do I need to remove to replace the blower motor on my 1990 RRC?

The AC unit has been removed by the previous owner so I'm not sure what has gone/been unplugged or tampered with. Either way, I guess I gotta get in there to take a look.

Is there any way of testing if the motor is toast or is there a way I get get a bit of access to it to just visually inspect it? I obviously want to avoid a lengthy afair; can I replace the blower motor with the heater box in the dash but with the covering trim removed?

THanks in advance
Al

I had 89 classic with air con and whole dash had to come out to remove heater box and strip it down to replace matrix and service motor, think if no air con you can just remove bottom half of dash pull heater box back enough to clear pipes through bulkhead then slide it side ways in to passenger footwell.

heater assembly replace...what i did first was get another assembly and fixed it for a remove and replace,,,that way when ya take the dash apart it wont take as long takeing the assembly apart is a challenge itself...first thing is to remove the vent part of the dash...remove the vents and with a small screw driver remove the screws holding it to the dash they are up in the vent holes..also remove the cover under the driver side of the dash you will need to get into that part as well...you have to take it all apart radio and heater control...when you unscrew that control
panel it has a plug so keep it together..you have to remove the speedometer part of the dash...it also just plugs in...but has four nuts holding it on...you have to remove the nuts holding the condenser also...just let it drop down...the clock and the side view mirror control is on the same plug...i modified the hole to remove it completely....you have to also remove the top of the dash...this will exspose the the top of the assembly...it has two plugs one large and one small... the small goes to the condenser,,,thermostat... the assembly itself has for bolts holding it in...but first remove the heater hoses from the heater core in the engine bay...your going to loose some coolant...i use two vice grips to squeeze the hose and bloce the flow...then remove the hoses from the core...so if you have the dash completely removed and the heater assembly exsposed...you can remove it a put the oter one i its place... but check the levers make sure the work proper,,and the hot to cold lever...is a switch... they break ...check it good...as for the heater assembly itself...you have to take it apart as well to replace the heater blower motor... the switch plate on the front is pop rivetited..you have to drill them out...to take it apart...when ya pull it apart...do it slow and pay attention to how it is assembled...there is a kinda trick to get it back together with the flap for the outside air...it fits around the blower cage and has to be closed it disasemble i hope this helps someone abd excuse the bad grammer and mis spellings...thats just me... i wrote this from memory sorry it is a little choppy,,, ive done it a few times... hope it helps.. mike...here are a few pics

Hi, juest before I rip the dash out, anyone know what this white and black plug does/did? Its just hanging down in the passenger footwell and may be for the deleted AC system perhaps? Or is it for the heater or blower etc??

THanks
