Hey, just confirm what colours they are. They look like solid green and solid white into that connector and solid black with the ring crimp. Is that right? Are there any other colours on those wires?

Have you tested them for voltage when ign is on and off?

The cable is a green with a thin black line.
solid white
and a black earth.

this comes directly from the fuel tank so there's no voltage at all.

i pretty sure it connects inside the engine bay somewhere but cant see where.

Any help would be great.

Regards

Your Landy is a bit older than mine and I only have slightly more recent wiring diagrams, however the colours and cable route is probably the same even if the connectors are different.

All solid blacks should be earth. The green with black trace is the fuel signal wire. The bit I'm ever so slighty confused by is that all solid white wires should be unfused ignition. I'm just not too sure why the fuel sender would have an unfused supply. I'm pretty sure (although could be wrong) that the later ones have a white with either black or purple trace.

Anyhow. The wires should be connected to a connector in your chassis loom. Which runs inside the chassis rail to the bulkhead, where it connects (via connectors) to the bulkhead loom. If you look in your engine bay behind the engine on the left hand side as you look at it. Attached to the bulkhead are three connectors just above the gearbox bell housing. Look for the connector that has the green with black trace wire. If there is a white one in the connector with it, that is probably the one you're looking for.

If the wires in your chassis loom have gone walkies, basically you need to connect that sender unit to that connector. Failing that, all the way up to the fuel guage.

That's my best guess without looking at it.

You might want to put your rough location in your profile, just in case anyone local to you is feeling charitable and decides to pop by and help you out.

Nice Landy BTW.

Yeah the connections from the fuel tank connect into a loom at the bulkhead connector block which also has the rear loom (rear lights etc) wiring coming from it. I ran in new wires for mine about a month ago so if I get a look tomorrow I can confirm exactly where it is with a photo.

If I remember correctly the bulkhead side of the connector is actually an eight or ten way connector, and although it is only a 2way plug you have it connects to the end two of the block. Have a look, you might find the colours you need.

Interestinly enough I also discovered that you only need the green wire and black, the white on mine was never electrically connected to anything. The gauge still works as it should including the low fuel warning light.

The black ring needs to go onto the bulkhead earth point, I found a M6 stud on my new bulkhead which I fitted them all to (make sure it is bare metal and not been painted over).
