Hi all,
I've been trying to read up and found no clear answers so thought I'd best post.

I've got a Freelander 1999, with the dreaded 1.8 lump.. which is actually ok! My issue is a fuel leak, I've only owned the motor for a few weeks.
I filled the tank right to the top, I was then delighted to see a major leak coming from the tank. It stopped after a while which point to the leak being at the top of the tank some where.. After attacking it today, i started to take out the fuel sender and seen there was nothing plumbed into the return line, which makes sense as is shouldn't need one. However, I'm thinking the fuel was leaking out of here once the fuel reached a certain level (above the return opening). I took the sender out and to have a look if there is or should be a one way valve or something fitted into the return and there's nothing there, just an through hole.

So my question is - Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know if there is meant to be anything there? Finally if it is possible that it could happen.. does anyone know where i can get a fitting for the sender to then blank it off?

Its possible that the return could be being used as a breather, but i would think it would have some sort of non-return system to stop this from happening, i guess?

Sorry for the long first post.

TIA

Jack :D
