Good morning chaps,

Since replacing another rear wheel bearing, I've got another drone o_O .

This one has gotten much louder much quicker than the wheel bearing and it doesn't seem to be as easily identifiable in terms of where the noise is coming from.

The other thing that throws be about it, is it gets quieter under throttle. Coasting in or out of gear and between gear changes you can hear it get louder.

To me that points towards VCU bearings but I'd like any suggestions if possible.

Thanks!

Wheel bearings generally have a very long life, unless the hubs have been submerged in deap water a lot, particularly when hot.

Droning can be wheels bearings, VCU bearings, tyres stepped, rear diff and even the IRD on its way out.

Process of elimination... take the VCU and props oft and see wot happens.

Eye stopped taking mine through axle deep or above water because of killing bearings and oil seals. Gets boring having to change them. Water oft road contains mud, sand and clay. :(
