I have an Anderson plug mounted on the bottom of my rear cross member which is connected back to the battery.

Does anyone if Anderson plugs are universal ie: will a 175A plug from one manufacturer fit onto another 175A fitting from a different manufacturer??

I am assuming this is the case but want to make sure before purchasing what I need.

Im pretty sure they do, I have made new jumper leads for my recover truck and just bought another plug, never had compatability issues

There are more than one make that are NOT universal.

have ya got a piccy. Usually they come in grey, red and blue. Each being compatible only with a corresponding colour.

Will get a picture posted up when I get back home.

The golour is grey but has been painted over with black paint.

From memory there is a logo/letters on the bottom of it saying SMH (I think??)

Size wise it is 50mm wide externally (measured across the protective cap) and I am pretty sure it is a 175 Amp plug.

It sounds like the most common type and does sound like 175 amp rating.

Most Anderson manufacturers have now gone over to a standard range of size fitments depending upon amapage. A few years ago each manufacturer had it's own size/shape connector. If, as it sounds, it is a grey plug, Any of the new colour scheme connectors of the same rating should fit.

Here you go this is the brand/make which I have just found on the US ebay site:

SMH SY175 Series 2 AWG 175A Breakaway DC Power Connector (without contacts) | eBay

The Anderson 175 amp are definitely compatible with the durite 175amp ones. I put an Anderson one on my landy, but couldn't find the two contacts for it, so got a couple of durite ones from farnel for about 6quid each. They are identical except for the name on them.
