Every now and again I'm driving along, I clance at the dash and the yellow TC symbol with a 'ikkle LR going down a slope pops up. Press the brake pedal and it dissapears?

Friendly fault or something more scary!

which freelander you got (which engine / gearbox combination ) ?

The TC (traction control) symbol is like a dashed circle with the letters "TC" in the middle, and on mine flashes when I start to lose grip and wheels are spinning, so the ECU make the engine cut power.

The landy going down a slope shows HDC hill descent control is switched on, if you've not got it switched on, maybe have a look at the switch wiring for the HDC switch, as this is not unknown to cause faults. There is a thread or two on here about it, search for TC, Traction Control, HDC, Hill Descent Control.

Hope this helps, and more importantly, you solve your problem soon. Unwanted dash lights bug the sh*t out of me, and I can't rest till the problem's sorted. Touch wood, so far, so good.

Hi its a 52 TD4.

Seems to happen on the road whilst travelling at 40+ first time it appeared thought I might have caught the HDC button on the gear stick between gear changng - second time it just flashed up, doing 50 in a straight line on a road albeit a slight hill.

This would be the classic brake light switch playing up. Cheap and easy to replace. Even cheaper and easier to ignore. Mine does it once a month or so.

Cheers

I would suspect the same or less common is faulty HDC switch.

Traction control (or HDC) wont kick in when you need it if the warning lamps are on - thats the only consideration I would give to ingonring it! Think it costs about £30 to have fixed. Might just need readjusting - wouldnt be the first.

Mine does it from time to time...flick the pedal up and the light goes orf. LR garage tell me its a common fault of a switch or summat in pedal region.

I wuda said it was the HDC wires shorting alongside yer gear stick...If you ease the gearlever boot off, you'll see two wires leading to a plug afair on the side of yer gearknob...give em a gentle pull, if any come off in yer hand, you've found the prob......

Morning Hatters, Mingy, Yella, Slob, any other wrong un browsing..:p
