Hi guys I changed the front ns abs sensor on my 2000 freelander this morning as I had the 3 amigos and diagnostics said it was the front ns sensor

I had to drill it out as it was completely seized up.

Upon doing so I think I hit the abs ring in the hub, the 3 amigos have now gone but when braking you can feel the abs constantly pulsing.

Are abs rings the same front and rear? Also are they a bugger to remove? Or will a bit of gentle tapping with a hammer and chizel remove it?

Cool. Thanks.

I tapped the sensor in until it stopped and then pulled it out a mm or so in case it was hitting the abs ring.

The new eBay sensor seems a little bit longer than the original.

you tap sensor in till it touches then spin hub it will find the correct spacing ,puling it out a little will give too great an air gap

+1 to tapping in and spin

As for ring I pulled the shaft out and hit the old ring it snapped off I cleaned up the shaft and slowly and evenly tapped the new ring into place

I fitted 4 rings and sensor to old l series I had and would do the same again on this td4 I have now

Right so just gently tap in the new sensor until it stops and then spin the hub should set the correct gap. Sounds easy.

Which other wheel will need to be off the ground so I can spin the hub? I tried this earlier but been 4 wheel drive just having it in neutral won't allow me to spin 1 wheel.

cool thanks guys.

to be honest i think i did damage the ring when drilling anyway, so ill try tapping the sensor all the way in and if this doesnt solve the issue ill have to put the new ring on.

Would a small bit of drill damage to the ring cause the system to completely malfunction or is there a chance i could get away with it?

Well I just did the old tap it all the way in and go for a drive and the abs is still pulsing when breaking at speeds higher than about 10mph.

Looks like its probably new ring time.

Strange thing is, the abs light goes off as soon as I start driving.
