I stripped out my drivers door yesterday to repair the poxy sticking door handle and in the base of the door was a lump of 2x2 I thought WTF and binned it . Anyway on hte way home after doing sterling work fixing the door handle i pushed the button took the window down to abuse someone and the poxy thing wouldnt go back up !! the lump of wood wasto stop it falling off the runner ! i will have to refit the wood tonight :)
 
I've carried out the bit of wood mod myself in the past - Ive gone with a lump of rubber upgrade this time!!

Also had to replace the broken spot welds on the regulators with (very short!) bolts. When apart you could see only one of the spot welds had penetrated hence them breaking.

Need to go in there again soon as both front windows are now jamming when only half an inch down :(
 
popped oppen the passengers door tonight to re grease the window runners and lo and behold another lump of wood i left it this time :)
 
Had my nearside window **** up today, seems like similar symptoms...

The motor seems to be driving right off the end of the regulator gear - is there supposed to be a mechanical stop to avoid this or is it supposed to stop electrically?

I've looked at the motor which only has the two power connections to it, and there is no mention of any limit switch on RAVE... I wondered if there was a overcurrent stopping device in the MFU but again no mention on RAVE.

Anyone have any better clues before I reach for the pine?

take the other side of and check that to see if there is anything different to the knackered side.
 
reach for the pine :) tis invisible and tbh makes no difference at all to the window operation
 
Think I've found why the woodwork was needed... my drive sprocket dropped off the regulator on saturday, must have been hanging on by one or two of the three spot welds before but looked ok.

Removed the regulator, drilled out the spot welds and then puddle welded (1.6mm rod @ 45A if you need to do it ) the gear back onto the regulator. Refitted and hey diddely dee, it works again and doesn't need a lump of pine to stop at the bottom!
