Hi I'm considering buying a 2004(53 plate) Range Rover 4.4 Supercharged Vogue. The thing is I cannot find any information on a 4.4 SC Vogue from that year (I think the SC version came in 2006) and I'm beginning to think that maybe it's a Vogue with the black badge and clear rear lights being passed off as a SC. Can anyone shed any light on the differences between the cars that I should look out for? The registration papers state that it is a RANGE ROVER VOGUE V8, Variant AMA, Version 033. The word Supercharged is nowhere to be seen. Am I being duped into buying a Vogue when I want a SC? Cheers, Andy

Can't you look at the engine and see the supercharger (or not)?
Is there an online ad you can post that people can look at for you?
And there was no 4.4 supercharged - that was 4.2.........
Adverts usually mean "someone has put the SC style grill and lights on".

Lift the bonnet and look for a supercharger sitting in the V

No offence intended but if you can't actually tell whether it is a supercharged engine then you are going to find ownership quite tricky or very expensive.
Thanks for getting back to me. I haven't actually seen the car in person because it's located 200 miles away from me so I can't get under the bonnet and look what's under there. I'm going off what the ad states and the honesty of the sales person, here is the ad

Supercharged Units were 4.2 litres built by Jaguar. 4.4 is a BMW unit.
As vendor to supply engine compartment photo is online...
Remember that road tax will be significantly more expensive dependent on year etc...
Photo of 2006 Supercharged engine below, some cosmetics may be slightly different
If ia any doubt..,walk away there are many 'Supercharged' engines out there.....a real Range Rover Land Rover/dealer should/would know the difference..........do some more homework yourself, no harm in that...

You're not being duped: they don't actually say it is supercharged. Which it isn't.
Failed its MOT yesterday too.
Still a nice looking car and probably a better bet than an SC in my mind. Pretty low mileage.

Did anyone mention it was an SC in previous correspondence? It cetrainly looks like a Vogue to me(with all the correct badging etc) and no mention of 'Supercharged' at all.... 4.4 V8 too. Sorry my experience of Supercharged V8's is restricted to the 5.0 Rangie.......again Jaguar engined......much preferred the TDV8 TBH!,
They said they would mot and service the car before I pick it up later next week. It is a very good looking car and has a good service history.
This is the description of the car from the advert stating 'THIS IS JUST IN PART EXCHANGE AND A VERY GOOD LOOKING RANGE ROVER PETROL SUPERCHARGER'

GOD need to sort my proof reading skills out, blatantly read 'Supercharger' in that post but maybe was looking for 'SC' in the ad instead. Looking at it it's a Vogue....and if it's 4.4 litres it ain't Supercharged. Think the sales guy/writer of the advert is 'confundo'....as they would say in Spain....'Confused' in English speak!
Regards the 'Full Service and MOT' it may be wise to find out what it failed on...these guys will do their utmost to keep costs down. The MOT failure might be a minor thing but point to some other things that may need doing. Most garages like this 'pass' a car through its MOT without rectifying things before hand. Something more serious may be lurking underneath the shiny paintwork....I would have the car fully inspected by an independent entity(think RAC/AA do this still?) . Something like an older 'Rangie', out of warranty and bought 'on a whim'(we have all done it) could be a money pit! Go view the car at least(don't take any money with you and DON'T be persuaded into buying it there and then.....) You need to remain unemotional about this. How many 'Supercharged' Range Rovers have you looked at(physically) or driven.....if this is the first I would be very wary but go and test drive it......it will give you a benchmark to work from......but DON'T buy it if you haven't driven several others. Like I have said, there are 'dozens' out there to choose from. Take someone with you who needs to be told that you 'will not buy this car' today under ANY circumstances.....and do your research......know what things cost to replace repair and don't forget to add labour on top, even if you are a qualified LR 'technician'...

I hate seeing/hearing about people being ripped off.......I despise most 'salesexperts' who don't know there arse from the elbow but are good at selling things they know nithing about.......I have been 'duped' before when I 'was a lad'. My daughter was ripped off by the largest used car sales group in the UK that
Supplied her with an unsafe vehicle that needed new tyres and more than £1500-00 in basic repairs(albeit with a fresh MOT and 100 point safety check...) my experience is that most of these people come from a very similar mould.
